Halloween is my favorite holiday. Not only does it segue into my birthday, I can celebrate it however I want. No one will reproach you for doing it wrong, and there are few hurt feelings. But most importantly, costumes. Although I dress up almost every day, on Halloween the dressing can be bigger, brighter, and has no expectation of coherence with any ideal of me. Costumes are usually something, but this year I want to be white and silver, pale blue and black. I want to be blanked out and layered over, the saying of which reminds me how much the pleasure of changing comes from the action and not the result.
