If you're going to criticize, take yourself down first, right? In that case the measure of my misunderstanding is enough to preclude all conversation. Pass the salt.
I come out of interactions feeling most everything I said was unfounded, but I don't know to what extent that's an outsized tendency towards self-disparagement and to what extent it's a healthy knowledge of my own fallibility. I guess the difference is how much you hate yourself for it afterwards.
