I think it's because it puts the other feelings into perspective, into contrast, which pulls your attention back and all those other feelings into focus.
You may be right. Imperfection or impermanence puts beauty into clearer focus through contrast, and is perhaps even a central component of the beauty, at least the experience of it. (See: wabi-sabi)
